Well, he never turned down the thermostat like I asked before our week-long trip

Sometimes I feel like I am the only adult living in this household. I don’t think that that is a new sentence to be uttered by human beings. I’m pretty sure that the vast majority of us have felt like we were responsible for more work than our close social connections at many times in the past. Unfortunately, I am feeling that way about my romantic partner right now. For the past several months I have noticed that my boyfriend is not a very good caretaker when it comes to our household, our appliances, and heating, cooling, and ventilation system. I am not particularly handy, but I am the only person who worries about the indoor air temperature control system or the routine maintenance that is necessary. For instance, I have been changing the air filter for the air conditioning unit and forced air furnace every month for the past year. I have also been calling the local heating, cooling, and ventilation control repair shop for any of our indoor air temperature control device maintenance for the past year. All of this being said, you would think that maybe I could ask my boyfriend to turn down the central heating and cooling system before we went on a vacation. Perhaps he could manage to alter the thermostat for us, since he doesn’t worry about anything else. Well, he never turned down the thermostat like I asked before our week-long trip. Now, guess who is also responsible for paying the high energy bill this month. I really am the only adult around here.
