I want to become an HVAC technician

I want to become an HVAC technician

I could use some advice and I can’t think of a better place than the internet to get it! I’m about to graduate high school and my family is really pressuring me to go to college and get a four-year bachelor’s degree in liberal arts that I’m never going to use.

I’ve seen my older brother go into crippling debt just to get a crappy desk job, so I’m not sure who this degree is for really. I would like to pursue a career in a skill trade. The more I research it, the more I become interested in getting certified as an HVAC technician. I’ve noticed online that there are several schools that offer a pathway to becoming an HVAC technician and I’m just wondering which school has the best path for me. If you’re an HVAC technician, heating specialist, cooling specialist or just someone who otherwise has a lot of information about the indoor comfort business, I would really like to know your opinion on this topic. Heck, even if you have no idea about the indoor comfort industry and have just heard great things about a particular HVAC school or program, I would take your recommendation under advisement as well. All I know is that I can’t talk to my family about HVAC technician programs until I have one picked out. Thank you so much for your help. Hopefully once my parents see the ease with which I can get into the lucrative HVAC industry, they’ll change their tune about what they think the best plan for me is! I really appreciate it guys! Thanks again!
