Boilers
Boilers
I never thought about boilers as being anything but what I have in my home.
We have a boiler to heat our home.
It uses fuel to ignite the fire that heats water. As the water heats, it expands and goes through pipes. The water is then passed through pipes where its heat flows over coils and is blown into our home. We get our hot water from the boiler and we have our heating from the boiler system. It is such an easy system. The boiler is efficient in energy and the heating is steady. I was told that my boiler could last as much as forty years. I wondered if the industrial or commercial boilers last that long. I decided to look it up. I found out that the average lifespan of a commercial boiler is normally between ten and fifteen years. The problem here is that even though the boiler has reached its end-of-life cycle, it still appears to be working properly. The owners of these boilers then take it for granted and think it should last much longer. Unlike the home boiler that needs little to no servicing, the commercial boilers need to be serviced once a year to keep it working efficiently. I couldn’t believe the lifespan of a commercial boiler would be half the length of a home boiler. Of course, there is a lot more stress on a commercial boiler than on a home boiler. Either way, I would think that the owner of a commercial boiler would choose it for its efficiency over its lifespan.
