For several months I had been dropping hints to my husband that we needed a new air conditioning unit.

I’m not sure how long he was going to wait before he took the hint and called the HvAC company. I couldn’t believe I had waited this long and not called the HvAC company on my own. The air was humid and I was beginning to worry that we could soon be having a problem with mold and mildew. For my birthday, my husband always asked me what I wanted for my gift. When he asked me this year, I came right out and told him that I wanted a new air conditioning unit. He kind of laughed and told me he was pretty sure this one would last a couple more months. I was done with the hints. I told him I wanted the new air conditioning soon. I wasn’t going to continue living in this house without any air conditioning. I told him the air was getting heavy and my allergies were worsening every day. I thought this would get to him, but he smiled and told me he would come up with a good gift if I didn’t want to give him any more hints. I was so furious that I walked into the bedroom, grabbed my purse and drove off. He was calling my cell phone and I ignored him. Later that night, my sister called and asked where I was. I told her I was sitting at the end of the road watching the HVAC van sitting outside of my house. I was finally getting my new air conditioning unit, but I didn’t want to ruin the surprise.
