Working as an HVAC Technician but Owning a Cabin in the Woods with Only Fireplace
My dad and granddad were always teaching myself and others how to fix things and task with our hands.
- The two men would always talk to myself and others about how the world is changing and with the changes taking place, we need to be able to take care of ourselves.
My grandad passed away a few years ago, but the lessons that he was able to instill in myself and others are still in our hearts and minds. I currently am a manager at the number 1 HVAC ventilation heating and cooling contractor in the state and I am so grateful. During the day I am able to use the skills that my granddad and dad taught myself and others to help out people who have not been taught the skills to repair their own heating and cooling units. While I’m not honestly working, I get to go to our small condo in the country that I built all on our own, living off the land and building things or tinkering around. Despite the fact that I manage an HVAC company, and I can get cheap HVAC gear, the only thing I have installed in our beach condo is a proper fireplace. It’s not modern high tech, but it gives myself and others an option to task for the comfort of staying warm in January. If you told myself and others that pretty much everyone think I’m out of my mind for living this way I would believe you, but I wouldn’t want to change a thing and I am thankful to my granddad and dad for giving myself and others the knowledge I needed to live this way.
