For more than 2 years my company has been talking about expanding. They have been dead set on acquiring another facility and spreading our operations across the city. They believed that they could make a lot of extra money if they had a retail space on the west side rather than relying on all of their business in the center of the bustling metropolitan area. I do not disagree with their planning… But I wish that they were more reasonable with the follow-through. You see, my company ultimately wound up acquiring an outdated building that my fantastic friend and I now have to labor in. The concern is, the indoor air quality is honestly horrendous. The building that they are utilizing has an old Commercial heating, cooling, and air quality control system that is supposed to supply high-quality indoor air throughout the entire 20,000 foot space, and unfortunately, the Commercial heating, cooling, and ventilation units are clearly older than I am. They do not give accurate or efficient indoor air quality to a single part of the building… As you walk through the giant space you notice fluctuating tepid and chilly patches in every room. The air always stinks like something is burning or growing inside of the ductwork. Worst of all, you cannot legitimately rely on the heating or cooling system to operate in a consistent and energy efficient manner. Some nights the air conditioner component and forced air furnace work, and some nights they do not. When my company said they wanted to expand, they should have set aside money for a working Heating and Air Conditioning system.
