Upgrading to solar panels

Upgrading to solar panels

I’ve been wanting to make some major home improvements around my property for the past five years or so.

I’ve held off on tackling these major projects because of the investment they would require, weighed against the expected payback from the improvements.

However, there is one project in particular that would benefit me financially in the long run; installing solar panels to power my home’s HVAC system. Until now I’ve operated with a pretty standard heating and cooling setup, everything is run by electricity from the energy company. I spend a fair amount on my energy bills every month, and I don’t feel as though my temperature control is anything special to warrant such spending. That’s why I’m looking to power my home heating and cooling with energy from the sun. I simply need to clear some land, removing a few square meters of brush, so that the panels can be installed. After that, they will collect photons from the sunlight and store up that energy to power my entire ventilation system. My furnace and air conditioner will easily be powered with only a single solar panel, but I would like to use this system to control the thermostat and indoor house fans as well. I figure that it will only take one year for the energy savings to outweigh the initial investment, and my HVAC will practically pay for itself after that. I’ve already gone ahead and received some quotes from my local HVAC professional, and I’m ready to move forward as soon as the installation technicians are!
