Air conditioner failed on holiday weekend

Sometimes I swear that I have the worst luck you could imagine.

Things go wrong at the worst moments possible and I’m stuck dealing with a lot of nonsense that I wasn’t prepared for.

It’s rare that everything goes smoothly all the time, but I seem to be especially afflicted by rashes of bad luck. For instance, for that past year I have had no problems with my central cooling system whatsoever. It has worked reliably and efficiently every single day, and I’ve been enjoying the perfectly cool and dry air quality of my apartment the entire time. I forgot that it was even something I had to worry about, because I hadn’t called the heating and cooling repair company out in such a long time. Then the long holiday weekend rolls around, it’s extremely hot and humid outside, and I have plans to stay at home and enjoy my cool apartment all by myself… only for my air conditioner to completely fail on the first day of the break. I woke up to find that it was almost 90 degrees in my pad, and upon inspecting the thermostat it became obvious that my AC was not operating at all. I tried to call my normal HVAC repair company, but they are closed for the entire holiday weekend. I’ve been calling all around town trying to find an open heating and cooling company with no luck; everyone is either booked, or out of town for the Fourth of July weekend. What luck – it looks like I won’t be at home enjoying my air conditioning afterall.
