Shaken HVAC unit
Shaken HVAC unit
I am not sure if you heard about the recent earthquakes in California but we were really jolted last week when they happened.
- My neighbors camper was even knocked off its blocks and the front end crashed to the ground.
He had it up on blocks because it was permanently placed at the local campground. He even has a huge deck that is built and that was damaged too. His main concern, however, was the large HVAC unit that sat on the ground next to the camper. Instead of using the unit that came with the rig he had purchased an additional one that was stronger to ensure that he and his family were comfortable. It is really like having a regular house HVAC system instead of a camper one. When he went to assess the damage from the earthquake he found the camper off it’s block and the HVAC system with a cracked casing. I am hoping that his insurance will make the repairs for him because I am sure it will be costly to fix the damage. Thankfully he said that the items inside the camper were mostly ok but the vents for the HVAC unit were pulled out of the wall and that, along with the cracked casing were going to cost him a lot of money to fix. Because it is installed in an RV type vehicle the parts are specialized inside the unit. When he bought the larger HVAC unit he had custom connections made in order to use the existing air vents. Now, he was going to have to pay for that all over again.
