If you have ever touched a lightbulb that has been on for awhile, you know how much heat they can generate.

Now, imagine that intensified my a million times over.

As a set director for a local theater, this is something I need to take into consideration all the time. Stage lighting can not only be blinding to those on stage, it can actually cause the set to heat up and at times ruin things. We use huge vents and air conditioners to try and prevent any issues. The HVAC system in the theater building is very important and we make sure to have it maintained well. The owner at the HVAC company is a sponsor of many of our productions and has season tickets to all of our shows as well. For this reason he gives us a break on the labor costs and always makes sure to save us money wherever possible. Our actors, patrons, and others are very appreciative of the high quality HVAC system that we have. A few years back we held several fundraisers to upgrade the system and had no problem finding people who were willing to make donations towards our cause. I love working at the theater and having a hand in transporting our patrons to many new and exciting places as they watch our latest production. Having a space to work that is so well cared for makes that job so much easier. Even though working with actors can be difficult at times the adventure of doing so makes it all worthwhile.
