The charcoal filter might not be the best after all

The charcoal filter might not be the best after all

We are some of those people that believe charcoal can fix every issue.

The fact that products made with charcoal kept mushrooming for over 12 years made the belief even stronger. Products such as charcoal toothpaste became so rampant. I can remember buying these little minute sacks one time and they were filled with charcoal flakes. The manufacturer’s idea was to have the bin filled with charcoal & then place it inside a drawer or a closet to eliminate foul smells. In other words, the charcoal works by absorbing the unwanted smells. It took a while before I tried one of these inside of a drawer but soon discovered that this was the possible and perfect way of using them. I finally placed one inside my closet but am not quite sure it made a difference there. Even so, I later discovered a newer product that uses activated charcoal crystals. In my random rounds, I came across an A/C filter layered with charcoal crystals. My intention was to purchase a modern filter for my Heating & Air Conditioning system, and decided to try out the filter since it came marked with smell absorption abilities. The idea is that odors in your home’s air would get absorbed into the charcoal as the air passes through the Heating & Air Conditioning system. These filters have worked pretty well in my house for a few years with several pets present. However, the activated charcoal filter began to deteriorate in quality. However, with time they started shedding charcoal crystals into the A/C. Those can easily get stuck into the evaporator coil & then you run into serious damage.
