Not a smooth start to air conditioning
Not a smooth start to air conditioning
I’m still trying to figure out my thinking when it came to the central air conditioning in our house.
The central air conditioning in our home is comprised of a gas furnace for heating and a heat pump for cooling.
Since we live way up north, the gas furnace and the heating definitely get more attention. But really, that’s only natural. For sure, I’m super glad to have the heat pump. The air conditioning really does come in handy during July and August. The peak heating hours during the day definitely need some air conditioning. But most nights, we’re able to turn it off and even open the windows if it’s not too humid. Yet, it’s the heating that I’m always thinking of. Our Winter can be ferocious and nobody wants to be put in a situation where they don’t have good heating. So of course, I make sure the HVAC professionals come out each Fall to do the heating maintenance on the gas furnace. I don’t think we’ve ever missed any HVAC maintenance on the gas furnace since we’ve been here. That said, I’ve not been near as consistent about the air conditioning tune ups. In fact, I can’t recall, off the top of my head, just when I had the last one done on the heat pump. So it really should be no surprise that the air conditioning has failed. It was a bit warm in the house the other day and I flipped the thermostat to cooling. It was clear right away that something was wrong and I called the HVAC company. Turns out that the air conditioning tune up is just as important to be consistent with as the heating maintenance.
