Out with the old, in with the new fireplace

Out with the old, in with the new fireplace

Growing up, my parents sacrificed a lot for my siblings and me.

My mother kept telling me how Dad eyed a family home he couldn’t afford.

He always spoke of sitting on his rocking chair by the fireplace and sipping tea or wine. Fast forward to today, I finally managed to get my parents their dream house. Little did I know Dad had a totally different idea about the heating equipment he loved so much. He was thinking of a more modern version, while the house I got for them had the old heating device in place. He was so unimpressed with it that he even wished a furnace was in place. But not to worry, I called in a heating specialist from a local heating dealership to assess the situation and come up with a solution. Unfortunately, their company didn’t stock the new ones. However, they recommended a heating company specializing in remodeling and HVAC installation. The heating technician assigned to the job replaced the old thermostat and synchronized the new one with the new installation. The outcome was so good – complete with glass doors, mantels, and surrounding tiles. The HVAC professional did a commendable job, and Dad was equally happy. As a surprise gift, the company offered us a small portable electric heater that my parents could use to add extra heat to their bedroom during the cold winters. Best of all, the new addition did not require much heating maintenance, and it rarely broke down, so again, no annoying heating repair now and then. Notably, it improved the look of the living room with its prominent features. At least Dad could now sip wine or drink tea, staring at his new obsession.
