Easy decision to go ductless heat pumps

It’s been nearly a year now since we moved into this house.

And this was a first for my wife and I.

Not only is this our first house since being married, it’s our first time being homeowners altogether. The fact that we had our own quality heating and air, a yard and a mortgage was something to celebrate. But being a new homeowner also comes with a learning curve. There is a lot more responsibility on us now that we own our home and are building equity instead of renting. And that started as soon as we got the keys. Our place needed a good bit of work when we bought it. But outside of one plumbing issue and the old HVAC equipment, we have been doing the work ourselves. Getting new heating and cooling equipment though was paramount when we moved in. We got in the house in August. And around here, that’s akin to living on the surface of the sun it’s so hot. So we had to immediately address the heating and cooling issue. The heat pump was shot and so was the ductwork come to find out. The HVAC contractor provided a much closer inspection of the ductwork than the home inspector. And it was clear that we were going to have to replace the ductwork if we wanted central air conditioning. But the more we talked with the HVAC professionals, the more it made great sense to go with a ductless multi split system. This was, we didn’t have to go through the mess and cost of ripping out and replacing the ductwork. Plus, ductless heat pumps are very, very efficient. So in the end, it was an easy decision to go ductless.
