Having a demanding job as a woman is very stressful, especially when you must go on business trips and leave home for several days.

Now that our children are in college, they care for themselves when I am not at home. As much as we have a domestic helper in the house, I try my best to care for the household. That includes ensuring heater/ furnace tune-up. But I forgot about it because of my busy schedule until the heating and cooling system broke down completely. It all started when the central heater started malfunctioning, and the boiler and the electric furnace followed. During the weekend, when I was home, I searched for an HVAC repairman. The repairman had a lot of work to do, which included boiler repair and also have to do furnace/heater tune-up. I needed the whole system checked. The repairman requested an HVAC technician’s help because he needed one to do some of the work. Luckily he knew one, and we called him. I even had to buy a new furnace filter from the heating and cooling provider. The work proved to be quite a lot. The equipment was really in a bad state. As they did the job, the tech told me I should start considering buying new HVAC equipment with the new heating technology. I knew that the only equipment wouldn’t eventually be too old to function, but until then, we would still use it. The heating contractor who had installed the equipment back then told me that it would last a long time, and I was persistent with the tune-ups. But since I should have paid more attention to the equipment, it depreciated sooner than expected.
