Schedule HVAC maintenance outside of the busiest month
Schedule HVAC maintenance outside of the busiest month
My HVAC system’s maintenance appointment was set.
Normally, I set up service for late April or March, just before it gets too hot outside.
If you don’t schedule an appointment before the summer then you’ll deal with a heat wave that is extremely uncomfortable. HVAC technicians are less busy at that time of year. In fact, when they are not getting a lot of service calls, that is typically their slow season. The slow season is the best time to schedule maintenance because there will almost certainly be no delays in getting the work done. Furthermore, I discover that my HVAC technician performs better when he is not pressed for time to get to his next appointment. About five years ago I once made the error of waiting until the very last minute to make my service appointment. It was in the middle of the summer, and my HVAC company needed three full days to send a technician to my house. While I waited, I spoke with a number of nearby HVAC companies, and they all reported the same problem. On the waiting list for one provider was a 7-day wait. Fortunately, my HVAC system was in perfect working order, and I wasn’t looking for emergency assistance. Since they have to deal with a lot of broken-down equipment, I assume the backlog is the same during the winter. Anyway, I try to schedule all of my service appointments outside of May, June, October, and November because I am aware that those are the HVAC technicians’ busiest months. I have to make scheduling even more difficult for the HVAC companies, whose employees strive to improve our quality of life every day.
