I lost my task while in the pandemic, and that meant a shift in my budget management.

As a struggling mom with 2 growing boys, I’ve had to find new ways to split costs, and lower spending, in order for us to cover the basics. The child support check from their abusive Dad is a sizable help, however the rising costs of things have been putting a strain on my finances. Thankfully, I managed to get remote task positions, and now I have a job as a virtual assistant. The pay is great since I no longer need to commute to and back from work. However, this doesn’t mean my associate and I have reverted back to past spending habits. I’ve become better accustomed to nothing at every expense, and laboring out how to save more money. This past Christmas, my associate and I had to rest down with my boys and talk about Christmas presents. They’d been asking for a PS5 for a while, however my associate and I also needed an up-to-date model of furnace… During fall, the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional had come out to our condo for the annual tune-up and checkup. It’s when doing this annual service that he told me that it was time to buy a newer brand of furnace. While the device would still work, he wasn’t sure it would last us all winter, which was quite a risk to take. An up-to-date furnace isn’t cheap, plus I’d have to cover the cost of replacement. This meant using the funds I had set aside to buy my boys the PS5. I am so fortunate because they understand, and agreed that I needed to replace the furnace first, then buy the PS5 at a later date.
