Never trust an HVAC salesman.

Never trust an HVAC salesman.

I didn’t know that HVAC companies had door-to-door salesman, until last week.

A young man was in our neighborhood, and he was offering free inspections of our HVAC equipment.

He handed out coupons that could only be used at his HVAC company. Along with the inspection, there was a 15% off coupon if any work needed done. I had new HVAC equipment, or at least fairly new. It had been installed less than five years earlier, and I knew I didn’t need anything. Our ductless HvAC was the best, and it hadn’t given us any trouble. We forgot it was in the house, since it ran so quietly. The heating and air conditioning was so steady, that we noticed no changes in the temperature of the house, unless the kids left the doors open for long periods of time. Then we also had mosquitoes buzzing inside. I thanked him for the coupon and let him set up an inspection. It was time to have the mini split HVAC inspected and cleaned. No one inspected or cleaned. They simply looked at the HVAC we had and told us it could use some work. I heard the same thing from my two neighbors on either side of us, and several people from across the street. Only one person was interested in having them inspect the HVAC system and had it done. We were all scammed into thinking something was going to be done. My best friend told me we should never trust an HVAC salesman, if he is going door-to-door. I wondered if it wasn’t because we were all skeptical and liked the HVAC company we were already using.
