• One way you can get your foot into the door is by attending an authorized school program that teaches heating and air conditioning repair.

Unfortunately for me, there are no schools in the area that offer Heating and Cooling services. When I wanted to find a job working in the industry, I had to find a person that was willing to give me a chance. I applied for a lot of different jobs. I finally got hired by a company that does heating, cooling, and plumbing repairs. The owner of the business was looking for a person to work in the warehouse fulfilling orders. I applied for that job and I told the owner of the company that I really wanted to learn HVAC repair work. He told me to stick around, because there would be an opportunity to learn more. After I had worked at the heating and AC repair business for 2 years, I finally got the opportunity to work in the field. I helped one of the guys with an installation job. I did so well that the boss said he would start training me for other repairs. After 2 years of working as an apprentice, I finally had the knowledge and skills to take the board certification test. I passed and became a fully licensed HVAC repairman. It took a lot of hard work and dedication to reach my goals and fulfill my dreams, but I’m glad that I didn’t quit when things got difficult.
