It’s definitely different for me to have my parents living just around the corner from me these days.

And that’s what I try to keep in mind when their behavior can get a bit frustrating. My mom and dad are now in there later seventies and have moved down to live closer to me. I moved to the south when I went to college and have never left that air conditioning comfort behind. But mom and dad lived way up North and that’s all they knew their entire lives. So winter always came with a boiler when they were kids and a gas furnace later on. But as they got older, they just really couldn’t manage the temperatures, the snow and ice. So it was time for them to get down here in the sunshine and enjoy the type of mild winter where the heat pump barely even comes on. But that has come with plenty of transitions for those two wonderful people. It’s a lot to go from a big home with a gas furnace to a two bedroom condo with a heat pump. And there have been some bumps along the way. In fact, I got a call from my mom who sounded frantic because Dad was going to take apart the heat pump. Well, that heat pump is brand new and if Dad even touched it, he would void the warranty. So I hustled over there to see if I could put a stop to that before there was no more HVAC warranty on the new heat pump.
