If you ask me, the holidays absolutely need to have a fireplace.

Fireplaces are just so cozy and they just give you a feeling of warmth and security whenever you sit by them, and I found that this is especially true during the holidays. I personally don’t know that Christmas would ever be the same if I did not have a fireplace with a nice crackling fire burning in it on Christmas Eve. I have constantly felt this way about fireplaces ever since I was a kid. When I was a kid, we had a wood burning fireplace in the living room of our house, and my dad would hardly ever put a fire in the fireplace, despite the fact that I begged him to do it all the time. Then he would say that fires are messy because of all of the ash and soot that gets all over the place. But as a little tot, I thought that fires were absolutely magical and I still feel that way now that I am an adult. Whenever we were on the lookout for a new house, one of the things that I was most interested in finding was a home with a giant wood burning fireplace in it. I just don’t know that you get the same aura of magic with a gas log fireplace. Probably the main thing about that is the fact that you don’t get the same odor of wood smoke. Anyway, whenever we were looking to purchase a house, a fireplace was at the top of our list of things that I wanted in a current home.
