Life was hard during quarantine, so I chose to be with my dad.

He lives in the town where I grew up. This house holds so many memories and has always been a safe haven for me. Dad refused to move from this place since it’s where his brother and sister live. Plus, he always says my mom’s spirit lives there, and he always wants to remain close to her. Dad was so happy when I told him I’d be moving back because it was getting too expensive in the city. I was also worried he’d get lonely since people weren’t moving around and going to the local bars anymore. When I was home, I kept myself busy by doing some repairs and upgrades to improve the space. I also started to ease dad into thinking about changing the heating and AC system. He had this aging heating and AC system which wasn’t as efficient. But, my dad isn’t the type of person who likes change and would rather keep things as they were. Still, he knew this was important because his energy bill was ridiculously high. We got to speak with a local who is a heating and AC worker about replacing this aging unit. Dad wanted to know the benefits of getting a modern heating and AC system. The primary reason was to lower energy costs. The second reason was to improve indoor air quality which was a huge factor given dad’s age. By the time the guy had finished listing the benefits of a new heating and AC unit, dad was sold. He even wanted to know about the benefits of UV light installation in the heating and AC system.
