Football is on all day today and I’ll be happily watching it from my recliner today. The HVAC cooling is off and the gas furnace hasn’t cranked up just yet. Although, I’m actually ready for it to do just that. The HVAC professional came out just last week to do the HVAC heating maintenance so we’re ready. But this year, I’m actually way ahead of the game because I finally got the house prepared for the winter. This is a chore that I have dropped the ball on over and over again since we bought this house. While I love where we live, the fact is that it’s an older house. Structurally, this place is in great shape. But as with any other older home, the place has settled a good bit. That’s just part of living on earth with gravity. The big downside for having an old house that has settled is trying to heat it. So much of the HVAC heating efficiency is compromised due to the HVAC heating slipping outside. And that also allows the cold air to come inside as we have a near constant draft during the winter. Well this year, when the kids went back to school, I did something about that. And It was all right there on the HVAC company website for me to simply follow right along. I was able to simply go step by step and before I knew it, the house was all sealed up tight. Now, I can sit back and enjoy this awesome weather window and not miss a minute of football knowing that we’ll save on HVAC heating this winter.
