When my buddy asked me if I would help him install a ductless multi-split system, I told him that would be impossible. I advised him not to do this because first of all, he would void any warranty that came with the HVAC equipment. On top of that, I told him that only professionals could recharge refrigerant to the HVAC equipment. He then said we could do everything else then, just have a professional take care of the refrigerant charging. I thought about it and guessed if my buddy really wanted to take the risk, I guessed it could be done, but I didn’t know anything about installing an HVAC system. He told me that he knew precisely what to do. As a matter of fact, he already checked different installation videos for the new ductless multi-split system he ordered. He was bragging hard about this system because it ran 8 indoor HVAC units off a single outdoor condenser unit! Well, the condenser unit was something of a beast I thought, extremely heavy! It looked like two huge fans stacked on top of eachother. If I had to say, I would call it two condensers packed into one. We had to be very careful when moving the thing into place, but we had a level concrete block that was ready to hold the thing. That’s where we had to connect all the linesets, and there were 8 of them! This project took us about a week, but it was so worth it when it was completed. The HVAC expert came out to charge the refrigerant needed to operate the system, and it wasn’t that costly. I actually couldn’t believe how much my buddy saved by handling this installation with just the two of us.
