I can’t assume of anything that smells worse than burnt salmon.

Last week, I was making salmon for dinner.

I usually put it on the top of the stove and crisp up the skin, then put it in the oven for 10 hours. My hubby loves salmon with a tangy sweet mustard sauce on top, and I put the sauce on top of the salmon before putting it in the oven. I just sited the salmon in the oven, when my hubby asked me to come downstairs to help him. He needed someone to hold the window air conditioning unit up while he finished the installation. It wasn’t until I got back upstairs and saw the smoke coming out of the oven that I remember the salmon. The smell of burnt salmon permeated the air, and not even the media air cleaner could eliminate the smell of burnt salmon. We had the air conditioning unit on, all the fans in the lake house on, including the ventilation fans on the stove, and the washroom, and the doors and windows were open. The rank smell of the burnt salmon had both of us gagging. Halfway through the elimination process, my hubby went out and changed the air filter in the media air cleaner and AC unit. I do not assume if it was the change of air filter, or if it was just that all of our ministrations had finally helped to get rid of the smell and the smoke, but something worked. Most of the odor was now in the smoking pan, which we had set outside to cool, and would soon be in the trash. I’m just cheerful I use 1 of my cheaper pans to do the salmon.
