My husband and I bought a fixer-upper. We had planned on simply doing a bit at a time, but that was before we found out there was no HVAC system in the house.. My husband’s father owned a construction company, and had taught him everything he needed to know about building a house. After looking at the home, we knew it was possible for us to do all the remodeling on our own. It wasn’t until after we bought the house that we realized there was no HVAC system. When the people moved out of the house, they took it with them. There was no way were going to ‌afford central heating and air conditioning on our budget. I called the local HVAC company and asked to speak to Michael. We knew Michael well, and he was an excellent HVAC technician. I asked him what kind of deal we could get on the air conditioning, furnace, and new ductwork. He told me he would talk to his boss and call us back. When he called, he said they could approve us for a two years, same as cash payment plan. My husband and I talked it over, and knew that was going to be very pricey for us. We would make a payment of at least $400 every month, and that was not in our budget. When I told Michael this, he said that they could easily install a ductless HVAC system into the house. The price would be about the same, but for a flat 10% interest rate, and his boss would extend the payments out for four years. We signed the papers the following day.
