When I first moved into my apartment, the landlord told me not to call him about the air conditioner.

He said he had a cooling business check the device and all is well.

I found that super sketchy and realized why he said that when summer arrived. The air conditioner in my apartment is horrible. Setting the thermostat is more of a suggestion. It just can’t handle the heat and moisture in the south. I have done everything I can think of to help the A/C too. I keep my blinds closed and the doors shut whenever possible. I also change my air filter every few weeks rather than wait a couple of months. I wash the inside of it frequently and set my thermostat to a realistic temperature. What really helped is that I noticed the outdoor component was lopsided. The device at an angle. I read online that all the refrigerant must have ran to one side of the machine. So when the inside unit turned on, there was no coolant cooling the air. It was just stuffy air moving around. After leveling the outdoor air compressor, the machine works better. Cooling the house is easier and sometimes the thermostat temperature is achieved. But, I was expecting a big change rather than a slightly cooler home. I think the issue is that my machine is really old and that my landlord lied, it has not gotten any cooling service. The AC system must have dust deep inside of it or the ductwork. So it might not work as effective.
