My father used to regularly record sounds for movies.

I’m talking about sound effects like people walking down the road, or the breeze blowing if there isn’t a nice natural breeze caught in the film while filming.

Actually, you would be surprised at how many sound effects need to be recorded separately and then added to different films because you can’t place microphones everywhere while making a movie! I always thought it was exciting stuff and I would often go with my father places to help him with recording different sounds. It was mostly a relaxing time and I actually enjoyed being with him during those times. Usually after working, he would take us to one of my favorite ice cream parlors where the AC system is always on point and the air quality is nice as well. My father was good friends with the owners of the place. It’s crazy that my father ended up passing away though and that place is still open. I still go there to this day and I always buy him a small ice cream like he used to always get, even though he’s no longer here with me. I have followed in his footsteps and I enjoy doing sound effects for different big films that are out there. It’s a lot of work, but I honestly have fun with it. I find that I always work best with good air conditioning, but you don’t want any noise pollution from the AC system. This is why I have a very quiet HVAC system in the studio. It’s actually a ductless multi-split system and it’s amazing how quiet it is, but that’s exactly what we need to be cozy at the study while working.
