What are the benefits of radiant heated flooring?

Lately, I have been hearing about a lot of people who are transitioning from old forms of heating systems like furnaces and moving to newer forms of heating systems. Apparently, people have begun to realize that furnaces are not as efficient as other types of HVAC units, and the forced-air process of heating is not the ideal means of heating your home. One of the most popular heating methods that is being used today is radiant heated flooring. The first time that I saw a picture of the installation of radiant heated flooring, I didn’t actually understand what it was. It wasn’t until I started renting an apartment with radiant heated flooring that I learned what these heating systems actually do and how they work. Radiant heated flooring is installed by installing copper pipes underneath the floorboards of your home. These pipes are hooked to a heating system that sends steaming water through the pipes under your floor, causing the heat to radiate through the floorboards and up into your home. There are many benefits to radiant heated flooring that I would like to discuss. First, radiant heated flooring is completely silent. You don’t have to worry about talking over the sound of the vent. Radiant heated flooring doesn’t send dust and pollutants into the air as well. Also, radiant heated flooring is a much evener form of heat. However, my favorite part about this type of floor is that I get to feel the heat on my toes! Who doesn’t want a heating system that keeps your feet warm at night?
