I recently learned about a new life-style called off-grid living.

Apparently, these kinds of people try their hardest to avoid living with electricity in their homes.

Instead of having electricity, they try to live off the land, or they find ways to provide electricity without the power grid, such as solar or wind-powered electricity. Now, a solar panel wouldn’t be able to power a full-sized air conditioner or furnace, but I did discover that they have made air conditioners and space heaters that run on 12v plugs. You could easily use your solar power to power these tiny space heaters and air conditioners. However, the prices for an effective air conditioner or space heater that runs on 12v is so expensive that, in my opinion, it would be better not to use it. If you are living off-grid to prepare for a disaster, you have to take into account that your solar panels won’t last forever. Instead, you should find natural ways to heat and cool your home. You don’t need an air conditioner for your home if you build it in such a way that you have the cool air outside cool your house down. Also, why would you need a 12v space heater when you could do away with electric heaters and furnace sin general by using a fireplace or wood boiler to heat your air and your water! It seems like it would be such a waste of time and money to purchase space heaters and coolers that run on 12v that probably won’t work well anyways.
