Getting ready for wedding
Getting ready for wedding
My boyfriend and I dated for nearly eight years before we got engaged.
As an older couple, I didn’t want a huge, traditional wedding.
We planned a more intimate affair and invited only close family and friends. We decided to take a tropical honeymoon afterward. While I wasn’t doing a grand ceremony or receptions, I still shopped for a new dress. I wanted something simple and hoped to look my best. When I started trying on different styles, I wasn’t happy with my appearance. I realized that I put on some weight over the last few years. I was heavy and soft everywhere. With limited time to drop the extra pounds and get in shape, I signed up with a personal trainer. I figured that professional assistance would speed up the achievement of my goals. I was right. I never could have motivated or pushed myself the way the personal trainer did. He designed a personalized workout program for me. We worked out together three times per week, and I was expected to follow an exercise plan three days on my own. I got one day to rest and recover. He also talked to me about changing my diet. There was no more pop, beer, fast food or late-night snacking. I cut back on pasta, cheese, bread and potatoes. I started eating a lot more fruits, vegetables, proteins and lean fish. The first few training sessions were brutal. My muscles were so sore that I found it painful to get in and out of my bed. The effort was worth it, because I made huge improvements and felt confident at my wedding. I have continued to workout and prioritize my fitness ever since.
