Going for a Swim Later in the Gulf of Mexico

I take a daily swim each day where I live overseas and it isn’t a problem, but when I am back here visiting my family and taking a swim in the Gulf of Mexico it is a different story.

I’ve heard of way too many shark attacks to not think about it while I am swimming here in these shark infested waters. The number one city for shark attacks is actually in this state, so it isn’t just in my head. Hang on, I need to turn on my air conditioner and I’ll tell you more. Okay, so there is one city on the east coast, which sits on the Atlantic Ocean and has the initials NSB, and it has had about 300 shark attacks over the past century. My HVAC tech friend was surfing there one time and got his hand bit trying to fend off a bull shark. I’ve lived on the water since I was eight years old and have heard about numerous attacks here and some fishermen even caught two great white sharks just a few miles off shore. I was doing an HVAC installation one day on this house on the water and saw a big fin cutting through the water just a few feet off of the dock where I would jump in to cool off. Some guy got attacked and killed doing the same thing one day off of his dock while his wife was there watching. What a scene that must have been, jeez. I’m happy just staying on land and doing my air conditioning repairs while I look at the sea.
