As a teacher at a local private school, I hear about a lot of unusual possibilities for students.

• Many parents this week are focused on the track of going to college after private school.

While college can deliver many opportunities, it isn’t a good fit for everyone. One program I recommend for students is a training program for Heating, Ventilation, & A/C certification. The program is through our community’s technical college & works alongside many heating & cooling businesses. Students can take certification courses while training on the job with local Heating, Ventilation, & A/C companies. It takes about a year to complete & it is a paid program. Rather than going into debt right off the bat, this sets students up for a career that pays well. Not to mention, in training with real Heating, Ventilation, & A/C companies, many of the students in the program already have jobs lined up due to the netlaboring opportunities. Everyone has a heating & cooling method in their home, however not everyone has the credentials to maintain it. At some point or another, all of us all need a certified Heating, Ventilation, & A/C worker. I enjoy to remind parents that there is still a fantastic need for jobs in the trades, & those jobs always pay well! Some of our strongest students went on to join the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C program & others enjoy it. In fact, I even keep in touch with one of them because he is the maintenance guy on our Heating, Ventilation, & A/C repair plan!
