You know, I’ve been living in the southeast for quite some time now. If you ask me, I think everyone gives the climate here a bad rap. When I was growing up, I lived in central America for some time. If you think you know what it means to be hot and sweaty, try a summer living on the equator itself! You’ll think twice before you say that your mild summer heat wave is too much to bear. Anyhow, I moved to the southeast region several years ago, and I’ve found the weather here to be a welcome change. The air is humid, yes – but it’s certainly more tolerable. Plus, I don’t need much to stay cool, anyway. My home is fairly small, so a simple window air conditioning unit is really all I need to stay cool and cozy in my home. Without a window A/C unit, I know my house would turn into a massive sweat-lodge – and I certainly don’t want that! Still, I know that all I really need to maintain a comfortable home is this window unit. I’ve been asked by friends why I haven’t had central air conditioning installed, but it just seems like an excessive investment! With the cost of labor, the parts needed, and the days spent having the central heating and air conditioning system installed, I feel like I would do a lot of waiting just to get a system that barely does more than what I have now. Until the weather gets as bad as it was in central America, I think I’ll be content with my window A/C unit and the air quality it provides.
