It was time to replace her temperature control

All of this was going on while she was at work

My spouse embodies the phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover,” as she is covered in tattoos, has a few piercings but has a firm policy of never getting piercings on her face, which I find ironic. She has jet black hair that extends past her lower back. She works at an IT corporation and is the best programmer I’ve ever met. She recently bragged about this great digital thermostat that she wanted set to replace her old temperature control system. This gave me an idea for what to give her for her birthday. She liked bouquets and cookies, but this would blow her away. I informed her that because it was a surprise, I would contact a local repair service to come for a furnace/heater tune-up in case the electric heat pump had a problem. She went on to say that if the electric heating system had a technical problem, she would have recognized it and called the heating professional for a furnace repair. I claimed that issues seemed to appear out of nowhere, especially after a cold season, and that it was also necessary to fine-tune the zone control system. I realized I was making no sense at this point, but I was determined to pull off the surprise! On the eve of her birthday, the heating company delivered the smart regulator and assured me that it will improve her experience with radiant floor heating while also lowering overall whole-house heating energy usage. All of this was going on while she was at work. The serviceman chuckled when he saw her portrait framed on the wall and stated that she had previously given him and his buddy some energy-saving ideas. That did seem like something she would do.
