Upgrading to handmade wood furniture

Instead of going to a store that sells high end furniture for tens of thoUSAnds of dollars, I decided to check out local flea markets to see if there were local artisans making their own stuff

For several years, I used whatever furniture I could find for my apartment! I was struggling just to spend my money the bills, so going out and dropping a few hundred bucks on furniture was simply out of the question. I got all the stuff I needed from Goodwill, or a yard sale, anywhere I could find a table and chairs, or a mattress, for a few bucks, and of course, you get what you spend my money for, right? That meant my furniture sucked for all those years, so now that I have a little bit of currency it is time for an upgrade. Instead of going to a store that sells high end furniture for tens of thoUSAnds of dollars, I decided to check out local flea markets to see if there were local artisans making their own stuff. I found some pretty amazing wooden furniture in these arenas, and although it was all old and dusty, that old world craftsmanship was still strong. I found a cherry wood table that had been hand carved over one hundred years ago, and it was still rock solid! Back in the day, people had no choice however to make their own wood furniture, so it was built to last, the roll top desk I found for my office is of a sleek and enjoyable Southwest style, and even though it’s twice my age it looks brand new… My home is still an eclectic pastiche of multiple styles, however my standards are much higher now, and I only buy handmade wood furniture with history behind it.
