Our home is older but we appreciate it.

It’s one of a kind and has been in my fiance’s family for generations.

We were able to buy it from the estate of his late aunt. I think his family sort of sets it up like that and handicaps the bids by income to keep it fair. The first thing we had to address was the heating and cooling equipment. His aunt had somehow patched together a sort of quilted mishmash of Heating, Ventilation and A/C. There was an old boiler in the basement that cost too much to run enough to truly heat the house. So there were also section heating systems scattered around the house. Additionally, there was love for an entire squadron of window air conditioning system units. It truly was bizarre. We started the process by inviting a well qualified and highly commanded HVAC supplier to the house. He offered the venue a thorough inspection and laid out our options. The boiler was a non starter. While I appreciate radiant heating, the cost was just nowhere near sustainable. The cost of putting in ductwork, a gas furnace and then central air conditioning system was also prohibitive. This left us with the option of putting in a ductless multi split heating and cooling system. I was a little resistant to this program however the numbers were right and the HVAC supplier assured us we would love this heating and cooling equipment. Well, it’s been several years now and that HVAC professional was right on the money about ductless heat pumps. I appreciate the house, the heating and cooling and just am so glad to be able to raise youngsters here as generations before us have.
