There are times when it’s just just having to stop doing something that you resent.

The fact is, if you’re at all like me, when you are doing something that you resent it easily shows.

So instead of just being miserable this year over Christmas, I said no to Christmas sweats. That’s what it is for me at our in-laws place. The furnace is just on full blast 24 hours a day. I sincerely don’t understand how the in-laws afford the heating bills. The heating costs simply have to be staggering. Any time that I ask to lower the control device setting, I’m met with all sorts of hostility. So enough is enough. I’m staying put this year. Since we’ve been married, we’ve always gone to her parents. Why should we drive from a place with the best wintertime weather to go sweat inside a house with too much furnace has always stumped me. But, I’ve tried to be a good person about it. So when our partner asked me to please try and be nice this Christmas, it got me thinking. It’s our Christmas too. And I’m actually nice at home with the heat pump at a sufficient level. If they would care about coming to come join us here, I’m ecstatic to have them and will pay for their travel. However, I will not be setting foot inside that heating craziness again. We’ll see what happens as far as the in-laws. All I guess is that it will be a heat pump Christmas this year.
