There are times when it’s just just have to stop doing something that you resent.

The fact is, if you’re at all like me, when you are doing something that you resent it definitely shows.

So instead of just being insufferable this year over Christmas, I said no to Christmas sweats. And that’s what it is for me at my in laws place. The gas furnace is just on full blast like 24 hours a day. I honestly don’t understand how the in laws afford the heating bills. The heating costs simply have to be staggering. And any time that I ask to lower the thermostat setting, I’m met with all sorts of hostility. So enough is enough. I’m staying put this year. Since we’ve been married, we’ve always gone to her parents. Why we drive from a place with the best winter weather to go sweat inside a house with too much gas furnace has always stumped me. But, I’ve tried to be a good sport about it. So when my wife asked me to please try and be nice this Christmas, it got me to thinking. It’s my Christmas too. And I’m very nice at home with the heat pump at a reasonable level. If they would like to come join us here, I’m glad to have them and will pay for their travel. However, I will not be setting foot inside that heating craziness again. We’ll see what happens as far as the in laws. All I know is that it will be a heat pump Christmas this year.
