What to consider when buying AC

When you buy an air conditioning system for your modern home you have a lot of decisions.

First, do you want a ductless or a central AC system? There are pros and cons of each.

With a ductless mini chop or heat pump, you have the option to have zone control. That means each room of your modern home gets an indoor air handler and control unit. You can set the AC differently for each room, and unused rooms don’t have to have AC in them. You can change the settings in different rooms based on how the sunshine moves. Nobody can agree on a control device setting. Zone control makes that fight a little easier. However, the cost of this idea is quite lavish. With a central air conditioning system, most homes are already outfitted with HVAC duct. You just hook up a modern central air conditioning system and are great to go. If every room in the modern home is used, it makes more sense to use a single unit. Some people don’t want particular spaces to be different temperatures. So homeowners find it overwhelming to set the control device in various rooms and also get maintenance on various units. If you go with central AC, then think about the HVAC duct. You can have traditional, metal seventh inch air ducts that go in the walls and ceiling of the house. High velocity AC particularly has half the size of HVAC duct and the material is able to bend into the slats of a home. If you have an older modern home and no existing HVAC duct, this might be the smartest option for you.
