Budgeting for heated flooring in the living room
Budgeting for heated flooring in the living room
I have a lot of projects that I want to get done. The first is I want to gut our living room & get everything brand new. I want up-to-date lights, windows, lodgeets & countertops. I even picked out the appliances that will replace the outdated 1s when they break. I chose a grey cement floor to bring everything all together. I am budgeting everything carefully because I want to add heated flooring in the process. It would be so simple to add electric heated mats while doing the flooring upgrade. However, by adding a gas furnace, I am doubling the costs of floors. Right now I have a ventless gas oil furnace that sits on the floor of the living room. It takes up space where a cupboard could be. It also looks really ugly & doesn’t work that well. Heated flooring could be the answer to everything. It wouldn’t take up space, make noise or blow air around. Since the heat is electric based, it is silent, clean & efficient. No heated air will rise to the ceiling or create cold spots around the house. I also can do this heating upgrade project on our own. You simply locale down the mats appreciate puzzle pieces. You can also buy the gas furnace at the local hardware store. I think I would be willing to have not as nice of lights or appliances in order to get a fantastic gas furnace under our floor. The oil furnace will last 15 years. I don’t want to cheap out & get something I don’t want.
