Too hot for the beach

Too hot for the beach

You always want a hot, sunny day when you are at the beach.

In this case it was too hot, and too sunny, and three days on the coast ended up being pretty miserable.

It wasn’t all bad, mind you, there was some great food, a lot of drinks, and my wife and I had some fun together, but the heat and humidity was just out of this world. There are some days where the sun screen isn’t enough, no matter how much you reapply it, and eventually you feel like you are slowly roasting in the sun. The only relief came from air conditioning, which kind of ticked me off because we came here just for the beach, and it was too hot for the beach! Being in the shade didn’t help, getting into the waves didn’t help, only going back inside behind doors and windows in the embrace of the air conditioner helped! So we recalibrated our weekend and found more inside types of things to do, like museums and shopping malls, that were all nicely air conditioned. You would think that the sun going down would help with the beach cooling down a little bit, but that wasn’t the case at all. Around midnight it was still over 80 degrees outside, with 92% humidity, so we just stayed in our air conditioned room and got hammered. What we thought was going to be a few days in paradise felt like God had left a giant furnace on in Heaven, and had the thermostat turned up far too high.
