Why should I choose hydronic heating for my commercial building?
So many things have changed over the years, especially when it comes to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. I have been in HVAC for over thirty years and I am still having a difficult time trying to keep up with all of the new technology. A couple of weeks ago, I was sent out to look at a commercial building that is being renovated. I was having a difficult time trying to find out why they weren’t using the heating system that was still in the building. There was a hydronic heating already in place in the building. They hydronic heating source had been placed in the building shortly before it was closed. I went upstairs to talk to the man who was keeping watch over the building. I wanted the name of the man who owned the building and who wanted to have the new heating system installed. They got him on the phone and I asked him if there was a reason why he didn’t want to use the present hydronic heating system. He told me he thought it was too old and too out of date. I almost laughed, but I knew I had to remain professional. I told him the heating system had been installed about two years before the building had been closed up. It would need a tune-up, but the hydronic heating system should be fine. I knew it was one of the best heating systems available for commercial buildings and they lasted for decades. He came over to the building and other than wanting some new hot water baseboard heaters for the rooms, he agreed with me on the efficiency of the heating system. He also agreed that we should do the tune-up and he would keep the heating..
