Okay, so I will concede that you simply can’t prepare for every eventuality when it comes to a project.

However, I have always been a big believer in preparation.

When I know what’s going on and am prepared for something that I’m taking on, the results are always better. This plan works for sure but building a house is anything but a regular plan. My wife and I spent years at the kitchen table under the air conditioning vent working on the design of our new home. We did this as sort of a project to take the focus off the fact that we were soon to be totally empty nesters. Our youngest, who lived at home during college to save money, was graduating and we were on to the next chapter in our lives. Plus, we wanted a good reason to upgrade our HVAC equipment and other stuff to sell our home. With just the two of us, it was simply unsustainable. And the house deserved to be loved and lived in by a family. So with all that preparation for our home build, I was a bit overconfident. But reality hit. The structural part when to plan and the contractor was great. It was some of the subs that we had a problem with. This meant we had to step in and it got messy at times. However, there was a shining example of professionalism and expertise in our choice of HVAC contractor. This guy not only listened but explained and educated. The HVAC system that we now enjoy is easily the highest quality heating and air we’ve ever experienced.
