Can’t go without good air quality

If COVID has taught me anything at all, it’s that I need to be prepared for pretty much anything.

  • I certainly realize there was no way for me to predict a global pandemic, however at the same time, the particulars don’t matter too much in the grand scheme of things.

If we were dealing with a different virus, for example, or if it were some other crippling crisis, our core needs basically remain the same. We always need clean water to drink, we need food to eat, we need shelter, and we need heat. These happen to be things that we can prepare for, just in the general sense. In the case of COVID, indoor air quality levels also became something that was in high demand. It could be that I overreacted, however I ordered a case of 24 air filters for our system at our property, just so I won’t have to agonize about it for a while. They request that I change the air filter in our HVAC equipment every 2 to 3 weeks, as needed, however I figure even if I change it once each month I’m pretty much good for a couple years. I was also thinking that I could totally double them up, and slide various air filters into the same slot and maybe it would supply twice the protection? If I’m being fair I don’t understand the actual science behind air filters, so I don’t really know for certain how much they take out of the air. I don’t actually have to understand it, because using a clean air filter in the HVAC is basically like wearing a clean face mask when I venture outside — every little bit helps.
