There is no thermostat installed
I recently stayed in a hotel located in the theater district in the heart of the city. I paid extra to have nice accommodations in close proximity to the multiple attractions. I wanted to avoid dealing with the subway and simply walk to the arenas. I expected a genuinely extravagant hotel. When the elevator had a odd smell and made a great deal of noise, I knew I was in trouble. While the lobby was absolutely gorgeous, the rooms had truly not been updated in a genuinely long time. The wallpaper was drab and faded, and the rug was worn and stained. The room was also rather dirty. There were several black hairs in the bathtub, a wrapper on the floor, smudges on the windows and stains on the curtains, however my greatest concern was the a/c. While I could complain about the lack of cleanliness, there was nothing to be done about the absence of a thermostat. There was no way of increasing the temperature or the amount of frigid air pouring from the vents. When I first arrived, the a/c was blasting frigid air at what seemed like maximum capacity. I realized that the window was ajar and hoped this was the cause. I hastily shut the window and waited for the a/c to shut off. It kept right on running. Although the outside temperature was hot and pleasant, the indoor temperature was way too cold. I finally arenad pillows over the vents to restrict airflow. I was forced to sleep with our sweatshirt on.
