The AC has changed, right?

So many of the parts had been substituted over the last fifteen years that although the A/C equipment was that old, it had basically all current parts inside.

This is one of the brain teasers our parents and I used to discuss all the time. Let’s say you have a hatchet, and the handle breaks, you go to the store and try to get a current handle and get back to work. A few weeks later the blade cracks, so now you go to the store and get a current blade for the handle. It’s still your hatchet, technically, but is it the same hatchet? We were discussing it again recently, after some labor she had professionally done in her house. I asked if she finally got her ancient air conditioner substituted by a pro, and she said she hadn’t, because it still worked like it was new. So many of the parts had been substituted over the last fifteen years that although the A/C equipment was that old, it had basically all current parts inside. The only original stuff from the Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C system was actually the housing and the air duct, all of the innards had been gradually substituted many times over the years. So at no point did it become a totally different Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C system, but at the same time it sort of is a current HVAC system. The a/c tech who had come to the cabin had been fascinated by the old system, and asked our dad a lot of questions about it. What started out as an Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C system and evolved into a hybrid monstrosity… but hey, it still works!
