Dog hair jammed up the air filter

Dog hair jammed up the air filter

I love my dog, don’t get me wrong, but the amount of hair that comes off of her is beyond ridiculous.

How can one animal generate so much dander and hair? We have all hardwood floors, so the hair collects into little tumbleweeds and goes zipping across the house like it was the old west or something.

Finally I solved that problem by taking her to a groomer that helped reduce the amount of shedding hair. It was too late for that to help my HVAC system, unfortunately, but at least it won’t be a recurring problem. I’m not the smartest guy in the world, and beyond setting up two HVAC appointments a year for general inspection and maintenance I don’t know the first thing about air conditioners. So I had never once changed out the air filter in the system, I always let the techs do that when they paid a visit. That’s how they make their money, right? Well with all this dog hair my air filter couldn’t last six months like normal, it would have needed to be changed, or at least cleaned out, once a month or so. When an air filter gets that clogged up it restricts the airflow through the system, and that makes the system work twice as hard trying to cool your home. So basically the dog hair jammed the air filter, and the air filter put extra strain on the central AC, which eventually had a heart attack and died. You better believe that is a mistake I won’t make again, new air filters every month from now on.
