I bought a cheap furnace in the off season

I found out that I needed a new furnace a couple of months ago when it was still cold and frigid outside.

The heating company wanted a fortune for the equipment and the installation fees and I knew it was due to the peak season and winter temperatures.

I didn’t want to spend an extra $300 just because it was February. I chopped additional firewood and I used the fireplace more frequently. I also bought a ten dollar space heater from the hardware store. That tiny space heater keeps my bedroom warm and toasty if the door is closed all night. When the weather started to get warmer and the stove started to melt, I started looking around for a new furnace. I didn’t find anything for a couple of weeks, but last Saturday I picked up a brand new furnace and I saved 20% on the purchase price. I had to drive 60 miles to grab the new furnace, but I certainly didn’t mind the road trip since I was saving a bundle. Since it was the offseason, an HVAC parts superstore was having a liquidation event on all of their equipment from the previous season. My best friend and I drove 90 minutes to the destination and had a nice lunch in a saloon near the border. Then we picked up our new furnace and drove home. It wasn’t an awful way to spend the day, especially after saving all that cash on the new heating equipment. I wanted a good deal and I certainly took the time to find one.
