There is no doubt that if our career wasn’t truly our passion, I might rethink the way I live.

It’s space of the package that I have to supervise different projects over weeks & occasionally years. This means that I have to absolutely be in the same region where that project is happening. I don’t get to simply pop up from time to time to get a report on progress. So short term rental allow myself and others a base from which to job from. Setting down roots is just not in the cards at this juncture. Perhaps the next job will be a single 1 where I can fly in & out from a permanent home base. But right now, I rely on using corporate housing & short term rentals to accommodate what I do for a living. It’s not the perfect situation in the world but it works for me. While I don’t have a lot of stuff of our own because this just doesn’t make sense. Why would I pay for a home or house so a bunch of stuff could stay there while I lived elsewhere. I could be on a project of numerous weeks & then it will be on to somewhere else. So having a short term rental with fully furnished apartments is the best way to go for me. I don’t have to worry about leases since I go with weekly and monthly leasing options. Perhaps this will not last all that much longer. I do find the thought of having a real home base & buying our own couch actually attractive. But until that happens, I’ll continue to be quite grateful for having the options that short term house rental affords me.
